Gorlok softball goes 0-4 at Easton/University of Texas-Tyler Classic

(Tyler, Texas) – The Webster Gorloks went 0-4 this past Saturday and Sunday at the Easton/University of Texas-Tyler Classic in Tyler, Texas. WU lost its first game on Saturday 11-2 against the University of Texas-Dallas in five innings and then fell to East Texas Baptist 8-0 in the second game.

    In Sunday’s games the Gorloks led 4-0 heading into the third inning before Mary Hardin-Baylor scored 10 unanswered runs for the 10-4 win. In its final game Webster faced the host school University of Texas-Tyler and led 1-0 after the top of the first but UTT answered back with six in the first, three in the second and four in the fourth for the 13-1 run rule victory.

    Lexie Moore suffered two of the losses against ETBU and Texas-Tyler while Gina Trapani took the decision against UTD and Megan Sperry received the loss against UMHB. Dana Vahey and Maria Hibbard led the way offensively for Webster with each getting four hits in the tournament. Kelsey Washam drove home three runs while Hibbard knocked in two more.

    The Gorloks return to action on Sunday, March 9 at the Tucson Invitational Games in Tucson, Ariz., against Kenyon College at 7 p.m. (CST).
