ST. CHARLES
- Senior Gina Trapani was spectacular in the circle and Webster made the most of its four hits as the Gorloks advanced to the 2009 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship game with the 2-1 victory over Maryville Friday at the Lou Brock Sports Complex on the campus of Lindenwood University.

Webster (22-16) will face the winner of today's 6 p.m. game between Fontbonne and Maryville at 8 p.m. at the Brock Complex.

Trapani struck out the side in the first two innings and didn't allow her first hit until the fourth inning. The Saints didn't have a runner advance past second base until they scored their first run in the seventh inning. The senior right-hander finished with 11 strikeouts over seven innings, allowing just one earned run on two hits.

With the Saints handcuffed offensively, WU took advantage of its first two hits of the game.

A lead-off walk to Samantha Dittmann in the third started the rally. She moved to second on a successful sacrifice bunt by Erynn Coit and went to third on a fielder's choice. After a shallow fly out kept Dittmann 60 feet away, the Gorloks tallied the game's first run when junior Cassie Mosier lined the game's first hit through the right side of the field.

Senior Kelsey Washam gave Webster a much needed insurance run on her solo blast in the bottom of the sixth inning. The run proved to be the winning margin as Maryville scored its lone run in the seventh inning.
