Box Score The Webster University men's soccer team fell to William Woods University, 2-1, on September 20 at the Soccer Park. A William Woods goal with 12 minutes remaining in the game was the difference as the Owls defeated the Gorloks.
Carlos Espinosa (JR, Eureka HS, MO) put Webster on the scoreboard by netting his third goal of the season at the 37:20 mark of the first half. The Owls, an NAIA program from Fulton, MO, wasted little time tying it up, scoring at the 38:13 mark, sending both teams into the locker room at 1-1.
The teams traded shots throughout most of the second half, but the Gorloks best chance to score came off a deflected free kick as forward Clint Carder (SR, DeSoto HS, MO) guided it just over the crossbar. Brian Woodward (SO, Eureka HS, MO), who had three saves, took the loss in the nets for Webster.
Webster is 3-3 on the season with the loss. The Gorloks have a tough task coming up as they face Wheaton College (IL), ranked 15th nationally in the NCAA III, on September 22, at the Soccer Park.
