JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - For the second straight week, the Webster University men's track and field team continued to set new school records here Saturday as the Gorloks finished fifth out of 15 teams that competed at the Jim Green Invitational held at King Fieldhouse on the Illinois College campus.
Â
Last weekend, the Gorloks also set a new school record in the 300 meter dash at the Principia Relays hosted by Principia College.Â
Â
At the Jim Green Invitational, Webster scored 63 points to place fifth among a field consisting of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA schools. Missouri Baptist took home the team title as they scored 108.5 points to outdistance runner-up Illinois-Springfield (95 points) and Illinois College, who scored 79 points to place third. Fellow St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member, Principia, placed sixth with 53 points.
Â
The Gorloks, who sent 19 competitors to Saturday's meet, won two of the 12 events they competed in and had seven Top 5 finishes in six other events. In addition, the Gorloks scored in a total of eight events.Â
Â
Highlighting the performances was senior
Caleb Clemons (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) who took home first place honors in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.08 seconds. The time is the second fastest 60-meter time this season by a Gorlok as sophomore
Jacob Ridenhour (Jerseyville, Ill./Jerseyville) ran a time of 7.01 at last weekend's Principia Relays. Senior
Brandyn Robinson (St. Louis, Mo./North County) ran a time of 7.29 in the preliminaries to qualify for the finals, but he did not run in the finals. Clemons ran the second fastest time in the prelims with a 7.12.Â
Â
In addition to Clemons' first place finish in the 60-meter dash, Webster's other event win came in the 4-x-200 meter relay as the Gorloks posted a school time of 1:32.67 in the event. The 1:32.67 time bettered the old school mark of 1:33.14 set at last year's Principia Relays. The members of Saturday's winning relay team were sophomore
Carson Gross (Arnold, Mo./Fox), senior
Jordan Kaden (Rolla, Mo./Rolla), Ridenhour and Robinson.Â

Â
Along with Ridenhour's performance in the 400-meter dash, Kaden placed fifth with a time of 53.07 and freshman
