ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Webster University men's and women's track and field team wrapped up their season yesterday when they traveled to Rock Island, Illinois, to compete in the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier at Augustana (Ill.) College. There were not any team scores for the meet.
The women's side had two competitors as
Vanessa Jones competed in the 100-meter hurdles while
Isabelle Llewellyn competed in the javelin throw. Jones took 15
th in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles after finishing with a time of 15.69 seconds. Llewellyn finished in 15
th in the javelin throw with a distance of 27.97 meters.
The men's side had seven competitors including
Steven Aubuchon,
Austin Merritt,
Joshua Clark, and
Elijah Perez who all ran in the 4x100 meter relay. The team finished in 13
th place after running a season best time of 42.18 seconds.
Aubuchon, Merritt, and Perez also ran in the 100-meter preliminaries. Aubuchon finished in 27
th place with a time of 11.24 seconds, Merritt finished in 31
st place with a time of 11.26 seconds, and Perez finished in 16
th with a time of 11.01 seconds. In addition, Perez also ran in the 200-meter race where he took 14
th place with a time of 22.19 seconds.
Joshua Clark competed in the 400-meter run as he finished in seventh place with a time of 49.22 seconds. His time of 49.22 seconds was a new personal record.
Kaelin Triggs and
Sam Baker also competed for the Gorloks as Triggs ran in the 800-meter while Baker ran in the 400-meter hurdles. Triggs took 31
st in the 800-meter with a time of 2:01.96. Baker finished in 23
rd place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.82.
Lastly,
Kaiden Klein competed in the javelin throw for the Gorloks. He finished in 10
th place after recording a personal record distance of 46.19 meters.
This marks the end of the 2022-23 track and field season. The Gorloks will return to the track next winter.
