Joe Swanson

Joe Swanson is entering his first season with the Webster University baseball team as an assistant coach for the 2020-21 season.

Prior to moving into the coaching ranks, Swanson lettered in baseball for four seasons (2017-20) at Webster. In his four years as a Gorlok, Swanson was a consistent player behind the plate and in Webster’s line-up. He finished his collegiate career with a .297 batting average, over 120 games played, two SLIAC All-Conference Team selections and holds the record for most runners thrown out in the history of Webster’s program.

As a player at Webster, Swanson was a part of three SLIAC regular season title teams, two SLIAC tournament championships, three NCAA tournament appearances, both an NCAA regional and super regional championship team, and an appearance at the 2019 NCAA Division III World Series. Swanson was also a part of four Gorlok teams that were nationally ranked including a No. 1 overall ranking in 2020.

Swanson is originally from Des Plaines, Ill., where he attended Maine West High School. He then recently graduated from Webster University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Management. He currently resides with his wife Alison in St. Louis, Mo.Â
