Webster Groves Tennis Center

The City of Webster Groves awarded management of the Webster Groves Tennis Center (WGTC) to the Webster Athletic Department, beginning in 2011. The Center, located at Memorial Park, just south of I-44 at Elm Avenue and East Glendale Road, is home to the Gorlok men’s and women’s teams. Management includes overseeing staffing, scheduling, and programming for the courts.

Webster women’s head tennis coach, Martha Davis-Goldstein, directs the management of the facility. Davis-Goldstein believes Webster's involvement benefits the tennis program in several ways. In addition to providing built-in work opportunities for student-athletes and students in general, scheduling for matches and practices should improve also.  These changes, in turn, will aid in the recruitment process of future Gorlok tennis players.

For the community, Davis-Goldstein provides a more ‘user-friendly’ facility. A pool of 20+ college players to work with, will help expand opportunities for private lessons and various programs including; leagues, USTA tournaments, and high school events. Online court reservation access is also available for season pass holders.

Other upgrades planned include complete renovation of the 8 courts. Davis-Goldstein has advocated and worked with the city for physical changes to the WGTC. Future improvements include post-tension tennis courts, courtside bleachers, and a scoreboard.

The WGTC includes eight lit courts, pro shop, and a ball machine. The facility is typically open from March through October, weather-permitting, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
