Webster women’s soccer picks up two weekend victories

            The Webster women’s soccer team picked up a pair of home victories this past weekend at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park. The Gorloks defeated Fontbonne 1-0 on Saturday and then downed Concordia-Chicago 5-0 on Sunday.

            Webster’s, (11-2, 4-1 SLIAC) Megan Niederschulte scored the only goal of the game in the 84th minute against the Griffons (6-6, 3-3 SLIAC). The Gorloks controlled the match throughout out shooting Fontbonne by a 26-7 margin and 10 of those were on goal. Kelsey McClure had seven shots to lead Webster while Katie Meeks and Christy Capkovic added five apiece. Jess Kozeny stopped four shots for her sixth shutout of the season.

            Against Concordia-Chicago (1-11) on Sunday, the Gorloks dominated the action again scoring four times in the second half en route to a 5-0 win. McClure put WU on top with the first of her two goals in the 32nd minute on a pass from Niederschulte to head into the break with a 1-0 advantage. Capkovic finished with a hat trick scoring all her goals in the final 25 minutes.
