The Webster University Gorloks defeated the Principia College Panthers to win the SLIAC Championship. The final score was 3-0 with game scores of 25-13, 25-23, and 27-25. This marks the fifth tournament championship in Webster history.
Though Webster swept all sets, the game was very tightly contested. Each point was hard fought. Principia improved with each game and pressed Webster at every opportunity. The turning point of the contest was the second game, in which Webster came out strong and held a big lead. However, Principia came back, tied the game, and eventually took the lead. After a timely time-out from Webster coach Merry Graf, Webster hit the floor running and retook the lead and the game.
Webster will now head to the NCAA National tournament. Dates and location are yet to be determined, but will be posted at www.websterathletics.com when the information is available.
