Another Shutout Win for Gorloks

The Webster University women’s soccer team notched another shutout on Sept. 25, defeating Cornell College 3-0 at A-B Soccer Park.  Two of the goals were scored by sophomore forward Megan Niederschulte and the other was added by freshman forward Lauren Kelly.  The shutout is the ninth recorded by the Gorloks’ keeper Jessica Kozeny this season.  The school record for shutouts is 10, set in 2002 and tied in 2004.

The game was dominated by the Webster offense.  Niederschulte broke the ice with her first goal very early in the first half.  The Gorloks continued to shoot the ball in the first half, but were unable to finish.  In the second, Niederschulte added her second goal of the night.  After her second, Niederschulte was subbed out for Lauren Kelly.  Late in the second half, the Gorloks had a brilliant goal, started by junior forward Mallory Morris.  Morris single handedly split the Cornell defense, dribbling around four defenders, before finding a wide-open Kelly in the box for Webster’s third and final goal of the night.

The women will be traveling to Chicago this weekend to take on North Park University on Sept. 27.  After that trip, the Gorloks will return to St. Louis to play conference rival Maryville University on Sept. 30 at A-B Soccer Park.  The game will be the front half of a men’s and women’s double header.  All Webster home games feature free admission.
