Gorloks Sweep as Graf Notches 200th Win

Webster University Women's Volleyball defeated two SLIAC opponents, Principia College and Blackburn College, on September 27.  The Gorloks earned head coach Merry Graf her 200th career win against Principia College by a score of 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-22).  The team built off that victory and dominated Blackburn College 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-13).

The first match was especially close with two SLIAC conference leaders facing off.  The conference leader in kills, Principia's senior Christina Speer, and the conference leader in blocks, Webster's senior Sarah Rusnak,
went head to head.  The team prepared for Speer by tweaking their lineup, holding Speer to only thirteen kills.  All three sets were close and competitive, but the Gorloks came together and pulled out a victory.

The second match was in the Gorloks' favor from the beginning with Webster's aggressive offense overpowering Blackburn's defense.

"I believe this win (over Principia) is a giant step forward," said Graf.  The victory was significant for Graf as it marked her 200th win.  "It feels great and it is especially awesome to get it against Principia," said Graf.

The Gorloks return to the court for a home game at Grant Gymnasium as they host Westminster College on September 30 at 7 p.m.
