Women's Soccer Loses to Elmhurst in 2 OT

The Webster University women's soccer team allowed a game-tying goal with three minutes left in regulation time, and lost in double overtime, 2-1, at Elmhurst College (IL) on October 18.  The game was the first of two fall break road trips for the Gorloks.

Megan Niederschulte (JR, Pattonville HS, STL) scored her 13th goal on a breakaway at the 27 minute and 59 second mark of the first half, assisted by Kelsey McClure (JR, Hickman HS, MO).  Niederschulte is currently 16th in the NCAA III in goals scored per game.  McClure is ninth in assists per game.  Christy Capkovic (JR, Mehlville HS, STL) is ranked first in goals and points per game.

Elmhurst tied the game with 3:15 remaining in regulation time on a head ball off a corner kick.  Elmhurst scored the game winner with 1:32 remaining the in 2nd overtime period when a Bluejay forward controlled a loose ball in the box and scored.  Freshman GK Shelby Wade (Francis Howell HS, STL) had 11 saves and faced 24 shots in the loss.

The Gorloks are 9-3 on the season.  The second leg of their fall break travel will be October 21 in Louisville, KY, against Spalding University in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
