Christy Capkovic (JR, Mehlville HS, STL) set a Webster University women’s soccer single game scoring record with six goals on October 3 at Gay Field in Clayton.
Webster downed Fontbonne University 8-3, as Capkovic recorded her fourth hat trick of the season. She now has 18 goals on the year and has leap-frogged into second place in career goals at Webster with 55. Niki Martinez (2000-02) is the leader with 58 goals.
Scoring early, and often, Capkovic netted four first half goals as Webster raced to a 5-2 halftime lead. Megan Niederschulte (JR, Pattonville HS, STL) led off the scoring with her 11th goal of the season in the game's first minute.
Fontbonne closed to 5-3 early in the second half before Capkovic scored her fifth and sixth consecutive goals to put the game away. Sophomore Amanda Zeier (McCluer HS, STL) completed the scoring with her second of the year.
With the win, the Gorloks winning streak reached seven games. Webster is now 8-1 on the season and 2-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Gorloks are ranked 7th in the NCAA III Central Region. Up next is a contest with SLIAC foe Principia College, ranked 8th in the region, on October 6 at the Soccer Park.
