Gorloks' Defeat Compounded by Loss of Sherfy to Injury

The Webster University women's soccer team's 5-3 loss to Principia College on October 6 at the Soccer Park was two-fold.  In addition to losing it's first game in the SLIAC, the Gorloks lost stalwart defender Izzy Sherfy (SO, Pattonville HS, STL) to injury.

Sherfy went down during a scramble in the Webster goal box following a corner kick by Principia at the 30 minute mark.  The Webster athletic trainer staff believe she suffered some kind of knee injury but the extent has not been determined..

Webster had pulled to a 2-0 lead on goals by senior Jesse Schellerup (Francis Howell Central HS, STL) and junior Christy Capkovic (Mehlville HS, STL), her 19th of the season.  Junior Megan Niederschulte (Pattonville HS, STL) scored her 12th goal of the season to put  the Gorloks up by two at the 46:23 mark.

Three Panther goals in a three-minute span midway through the second half put Principia up 4-3, and a late goal made it 5-3.  The five goals ties for the most allowed in a single game by Webster in it's 11-year history.

Webster is 2-1 in the SLIAC and 8-2 overall.  They have back-to-back home games against Eureka College on October 10 and Blackburn College on October 13 at the Soccer Park.
