Volleyball Clinches 3rd Straight SLIAC Title

Conference Win Streak at 36

The Webster University women's volleyball team defeated Spalding University (KY) and Eureka College (IL) at home on October 31, to clinch its third straight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title.  The Gorloks strategy in winning the SLIAC is simple, do not lose.  The two wins raised its record to 15-0 for the season, after going 16-0 last season in SLIAC play.

Webster needed every victory, as a loss to Spalding would have dropped it into a first place tie.  Instead, the Gorloks defeated Spalding 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 29-27) and Eureka 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 2516) to win the 2009 crown.  Webster also extended its winning streak in SLIAC play to 37, last losing on October 9, 2007 to Principia College (IL).

The Gorloks wrap up the regular season with a match at home versus Fontbonne University on November 3.  Webster will host the SLIAC post-season tournament on November 7 at Grant Gymnasium
