Deja Vu All Over Again, Gorloks Finish at 16-0

SLIAC Winning Streak Will Be At 38 To Start 2010

The Webster University women's volleyball team kept its St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference slate clean for 2009, finishing 16-0 with a 3-0 win at home over Fontbonne University on November 3.
The Gorloks saluted those seniors, who played a large part in winning a SLIAC title 'three-peat,' before the game.

Webster started its run in 2007 with a 17-1 record, and its only SLIAC loss to Principia College (IL) on October 9.  Back to back 16-0 seasons have catapulted them to three straight titles and a conference regular season win streak that now has reached 38.  Since 2005, the Gorloks have compiled an astounding 70-3 conference record.

Seniors Abby Williams (Incarnate Word Academy, STL), Jackie Schall (Oakville HS, STL), Stefanie Larson (Delavan HS, IL), Kaylee Schaefer (Seckman HS, MO), and Ashley Scanio (J.F.Kennedy HS, STL) were all recognized for their contributions to the Webster volleyball program.

Williams wound up 4th in career assists and 3rd in service aces, while Schall finished 4th in kills and a three-time SLIAC all-conference and all-tournament team selection to date.  Larson played a key role in the Gorlok's success as did Schaefer, returning to the team after a two-year hiatus.  Scanio gave up playing her senior season to do student teaching but plans to return in 2010 as part of the coaching staff.

The Gorloks will host the SLIAC volleyball tournament on November 7 at Grant Gymnasium.  Webster will play Fontbonne in the first round at 2 p.m.  A win would put them in the championship at 7 p.m.  Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students, and children under 16 years of age.  Webster University students will be admitted free with their Webster I.D.
