Win-Win-Win Situation in SLIAC Championship Games

Women's Volleyball Headed to NCAAs For Fourth Straight Year

The Webster University women's volleyball team defeated Fontbonne University in the first round, then turned back Greenville College (IL) to win the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship match.  The win, on November 7 at Grant Gymnasium, secured their fourth straight trip to the NCAA championships for Webster.

The win over Greenville (25-15, 26-28, 25-17, 18-25, 15-13) was the Gorloks fourth straight SLIAC tournament championship.  The match marked the first SLIAC contest this season for the Gorloks that went to five sets.  Webster had defeated Fontbonne 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-14) to advance to the championship.  Greenville defeated Eureka College (IL) to set up the final.

Senior Jackie Schall (Oakville HS, STL) was named the Most Valuable Player for the tournament.  Fellow seniors Abby Williams (Incarnate Word Academy, STL) and Stefanie Larson (Delavan HS, IL) were also named to the All-Tournament team.

Webster is 20-12 overall for the year, marking its sixth straight 20-win season. and 10th in the 25-year history of the program.  The Gorloks wait word on who their first round opponent is and where the match will take place.  NCAA tournament pairings will be announced at 9:00 a.m. at the NCAA website (http://www.ncaa.com/sports/c-soccer/champpage/c-soccer-div3-index.html).
