The Webster University men's soccer team picked up its first win in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2010. 5-1, over Spalding University (KY) at AB Soccer Park on October 1. Clint Carder (SO, DeSoto HS, MO) and Matt Mantia (SR, Webster Groves HS, STL) each scored two goals as the Gorloks scored a season-high five goals. Carder's two goals give him a SLIAC-leading nine on the season.
Mantia gave Webster the lead at the 12:00 mark in the first half, and Carder doubled the lead with his first goal eight minutes into the second half. After the Golden Eagles cut the lead to one with twenty minutes remaining in the contest, Mantia answered with his second goal just two minutes later to put the Gorloks out of reach. Brett Bozesky (JR, Christian Brothers HS, STL) scored Webster's other goal.
Webster is 1-1 in the SLIAC and 5-3-2 overall. The Gorloks face MacMurray College (IL) on October 5, and Blackburn College (IL) on October 9, at AB Soccer Park.
