The Webster University women's volleyball team saw its 43-game St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference winning streak come to an end with a double-loss to Spalding University (KY) and host Greenville College (IL) on October 2.
The Gorloks came out strong against Spalding, winning the first set 25-19. The Golden Eagles stiffened up and won the next three sets, 25-18, 25-10, and 25-22. Webster lost the first set to Greenville, 17-25, and both teams duked it out the remaining three sets as the Gorloks lost 28-30, 25-23, and 20-25. Spalding and Greenville finished second and third, behind Webster, in the 2009 regular season standings.
Webster is 5-2 in the SLIAC and 7-11 overall. The team hosts MacMurray College (IL) on October 5 and travels to the Washington University Tournament on October 8-9.
