Seniors Step Up on Their Day as Gorloks Beat Greenville 4-1

The women’s soccer team picked up its eighth win in its last 10 games, with Webster’s 4-1 victory over Greenville College (IL), on October 23 at AB Soccer Park. The victory capped Senior Day, which honored Christy Capkovic, Megan Niederschulte, and Kelsey Hunk for their contributions as Gorloks.

Capkovic (Mehlville HS, STL) and Niederschulte (Pattonville HS, STL), the most dynamic 1-2 scoring punch in the program’s history, rewrote the women’s soccer record book in their four years at Webster. Hunk (Francis Howell Central, STL) played her final two seasons at Webster and has played a part in the Gorloks stingy defense in 2010.

True to their careers, the dynamic duo struck again. Niederschulte scored the game winner at 70:30 of the second half, and capped the Gorlok scoring by netting their final goal. Capkovic had tied the game at 1-1 in the first half and scored an insurance goal nine seconds after Niederschulte’s game-winner.

Britttany Senator (JR, Quincy HS, IL), took over for Shelby Wade (SO, Francis Howell, STL), in the nets in the second half and picked up the decision for the Gorloks. Senator raised her record on the season to 6-1 with the win.

The Gorloks are 11-6 overall and will be back at home on October 27 vs. Fontbonne University at AB Soccer Park. Their regular season will conclude with a trip to Eureka College (IL) on October 30.
