Pink Panthers Defeat Gorloks 3-0

The Webster University women's volleyball team lost to Greenville College (IL), 3-0, on October 26 at Grant Gymnasium.  The Gorloks lost their second match of the evening, 3-0, to Washington University, ranked #2 nationally in the NCAA III.

The Gorloks lost the first two sets to Greenville, 25-19 and 25-15.  Webster came to life in the third set as the score see-sawed back and forth before the Gorloks fell, 28-26.  The Bears beat the Gorloks 25-11, 25-13, 25-19, in the teams second meeting of the year.

Greenville donned their pink uniform jerseys as part of the Gorloks 'Dig Pink' Night, sponsored by Webster to help in the fight against breast cancer.  Pink team-autographed volleyballs that were auctioned, 50/50 raffles, the sale of various pink items, and several contests, all raised funds that will be donated to further breast cancer research.

Despite the loss to Greenville, Webster remained firmly entrenched in third place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings with an 11-4 record.  A win in the regular season finale at home, vs. Westminster College on November 2, will secure the #2 seed in the SLIAC post-season tournament.  The Gorloks have already locked up a spot in the tournament field.
