Women's Volleyball Falls in SLIAC Championship

The women’s volleyball team ended its season, falling in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship match, as host Greenville College (IL) downed the Gorloks, 3-0, on November 6. Webster saw its string of four consecutive appearances in the NCAA III Championship Tournament come to an end with the loss.

The Gorloks, playing in their seventh straight SLIAC tournament, lost in straight sets (15-25, 16-25, 20-25). Webster defeated Westminster College, 25-21, 20-25, 25-12, 25-17, in first round action earlier in the day, setting up the title match with Greenville.

All-Conference honors were awarded at the conclusion of the championship match. Sarah Bailey (Columbia HS, IL) was named the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year. In addition, Jackie Novak (Timberland HS, MO) and Mary Jo Schweitzer (Parkway Central HS) were named to the All-Conference First-Team.

Bailey was named to the Second-Team, and Caroline Kargus (JR, Meramec CC) was Honorable Mention.  Schweitzer and Missy Repking (Hazelwood Central HS) were selected to the All-Tournament team.

Five seniors played their final match as a Gorlok. Bailey, Novak, Repking, Kylie Schweiss (Rockwood Summit HS), and Schweitzer all ended their careers at Webster. The Gorloks finished the season at 17-17.
