Webster University's women's volleyball team participated in the Linda Slagell Dig for the Cure Volleyball Tournament on Sept. 24-25 in Decatur, IL. In addition to great volleyball action featuring a nine-team field, the tournament was used to bring attention to the battle against breast cancer.
The tournament is named for the all-time winningest volleyball coach at host Millikin University, Linda Slagell, a breast cancer survivor. At the tournament, several displays promoted breast cancer awareness and pink items were available for purchase. Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to a Decatur, IL, breast cancer program.
Several teams participated in the effort by wearing pink warm-ups and uniforms. During a break in the action on Friday seven teams gathered for the photograph featured in this story to form a large pink ribbon. Other teams participating in the tournament included Aurora University (IL), Benedictine-Springfield (IL), Clarke College (IA), Concordia-Wisconsin, Earlham College (IN), Lincoln Christian University (IL), and Robert Morris University (IL).
