Volleyball Gains Split, Raises Record to 2-1

The Webster University women's volleyball team picked up a split in a home tri-match with a 3-1 win over Illinois College on September 3 at Grant Gymnasium.  The Gorloks dropped the first game against the Lady Blues, 20-25, before winning three straight, 25-16, 25-9, 25-14, to take the match.

Webster lost a nip and tuck match earlier in the day to Simpson College, 3-1 (24-26, 17-25, 25-21, 24-26).  The NCAA III opponents provided a stern test for the Gorloks, who are seeking their fifth straight bid to the NCAA Championships.  Illinois College is a member of the rugged Midwest Conference and Simpson was the 2009 Iowa Conference champions.  Simpson earned a trip to the 2009 NCAA III Championships regional in St. Louis, along with Webster.

The Gorloks have a home match on September 8 vs. McKendree University before heading to Memphis, TN, to play four matches in the Rhodes College Invitational.
