The Webster University women's volleyball team finished up the Molten Spike It Up Classic with a pair of losses on October 15, in Colorado Springs.  The Gorloks lost an exasperating match to York College of Pennsylvania, 3-0, before closing with a 3-0 loss to host Colorado College.

Against York College, the Gorloks lost three straight sets in frustrating fashion, by three points...by the same 25-22 score.  The nightcap vs. Colorado College was close as well, and the Gorloks battled in the match before losing to the Tigers in straight sets, 27-25, 25-17, 25-22.  For her efforts, Emily Ratkewicz (FR, Granite City HS, IL) was named to the 2011 Molten Spike It Up Classic All-Tournament Team.  Webster fell to 13-9 on the season.

The matches were historic in a media sense for Webster, as they were the first road contests in any sport to be video-streamed by Webster Athletics.  Webster is hoping to make video-streaming a regular feature of most home events, when possible.  The volleyball matches in Colorado provided another opportunity to 'test' video-streaming for the Department, and to test broadcasting for road contests that may have significant interest to Gorlok fans.

The volleyball team returns to St. Louis but away from home for its next two matches, as Webster takes on Spalding University (KY) and Blackburn College (IL) at Fontbonne University on October 22.  The Gorloks return to Grant Gymnasium for a match with Principia College (IL) on October 25.
