Soccer Teams Be-Devil Eureka With Sweep

The Webster University men's and women's soccer teams continued their good starts in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for 2011, both picking up shutout wins over Eureka College (IL) at the Soccer Park, on October 2.  The men defeated the Red Devils, 5-0, and the women beat Eureka, 10-0. 

Alex Cupp (SR, Lutheran South HS) picked up the shutout in goal for the men.  It was Cupp's second shutout of the season, and evened his record at 3-3.  Bryan Enger (SR, Mehlville HS) took over the team lead,in goals, with four, by scoring two in the contest.  Clint Carder (JR, DeSoto HS, MO) scored his second goal of the year, and Marc Hager (JR, St. John Vianney HS) scored his first goal of the season.  Pat McCaffery (FR, Bishop DuBourg HS) picked up two assists in the game.

The women's team scored a season-high 10 goals as nine different Gorloks got in the scoring column.  Ally Nikolaus (SO, St. Joseph's Academy) took over the team lead in goals, with five on the season, as she was the only Gorlok who scored twice.  Seniors Candice Evans (DeSoto HS, MO), Lindsey Owens (St. Dominic's HS), and Morgan Milfeld (DeSoto HS, MO) all netted one goal as did sophomores, Katie Aubuchon (Affton HS), Jordan Fosburgh (Collinsville HS, IL), and Kelsey Tsukayama (Ft. Zumwalt South HS). 

Two freshmen also got in on the scoring as Lauren Scalise (York HS, IL) and MIchelle Scally (Rosati-Kain HS) had goals.  Brittany Senator (SR, Quincy HS, IL) won her sixth game in goal as she and Jessica Davis (FR, Belleville West HS, IL) shared the shutout.

The men improved to 2-0 in the SLIAC, and 4-5-1 overall with the victory.  They will face Knox College (IL) at the Soccer Park on October 4 and continue action in the SLIAC as they travel to Fontbonne University on October 12.

The women are 2-0 in the SLIAC also, and 7-3-1 on the season.  They head to the Hilltop to take on Washington University on October 6 in Clayton.  They are back in Clayton on October 12 to play Fontbonne University in a SLIAC match-up.
