Volleyball Moves Up With Win Over Spalding

The Webster University women's volleyball team won an impressive double-header in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, including a 3-1 win over Spalding University (KY) on October 22, at Fontbonne University.  Webster defeated Blackburn College (IL), 3-0, to finish up the day perfect.

The win over Spalding leaves Webster, Greenville, and the Golden Eagles, all with two losses in the SLIAC.  The Gorloks hold first by winning percentage, by virtue of their 12 victories.  Spalding tied for first place in 2010 with Greenville, and entered the match with only one SLIAC loss.

Spalding had defeated Webster on Oct. 7 at Grant Gymnasium in a hard-fought match.  The Gorloks win wasn't quite as exciting as they took the first two sets 25-14 and 25-23, dropped the third, 22-25, then clinching the match with a comfortable 25-13 win.

Webster is back in action on October 25 at Grant Gymnasium on 'Senior Night.'  The team travels to Clayton on October 26 to face Fontbonne University and then to Rock Island, IL, on October 29 to play host Augustan College and Wartburg College (IA) in a tri-meet.
