Box Score Battling another opponent throughout the contest but coming up short again, the Webster University women's basketball team fell, 52-46, to Rose-Hulman Institute on December 19, in Terre Haute, IN.  The Gorloks had a halftime lead, fell behind by seven in the second half, clawed back to within three with 38 seconds remaining...but could get no closer.  Maggie Zehner (JR, Oakville HS) once again had a big night for Webster in the losing effort.

The Gorlok defense once again kept up constant pressure, forcing 27 Engineer turnovers in the game, 16 in the second half alone.  Frigid shooting in that second half (5-33) kept the Gorloks from running away with the lead and the game.  Webster had extended its lead to six, 34-28, in the second half before the Engineers went on a 12-0 run, when the Gorloks went 11:00 without scoring.

The Gorloks got off 25 more shots from the field than Rose-Hulman, but managed one less field goal for the contest.  The Gorloks had strong shooting from the free throw line, hitting17 of 20, to help offset the dearth in baskets and keep them in the game.

Zehner had 17 points, was two for four from the 3-pt line, five for five from the free throw line, and had three steals.  Megan Willett (SR, Parkway West HS) and Airyn Miller (SO, Belleville West HS, IL) each had four steals.  Willett also had six rebounds, and led the Gorloks with three assists.  Cassie Endicott (FR, Civic Memorial HS, IL) had nine points and two blocked shots.

Webster is 1-8 on the season.  The Gorloks have a holiday break until December 30, when they take on the College of St. Scholastica (MN) at Grant Gymnasium.
