The Webster University women’s volleyball team salvaged a split to finish up the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament, on September 10, in Bloomington, IL. The Gorloks lost to the host Illinois Wesleyan Titans , 3-0, but came back to win the tournament finale vs. the Illinois College Lady Blues, 3-0.
The Gorloks broke a three-game losing streak, handling the Lady Blues, 25-21, 25-19, and 25-14, in their second match of the day. Webster lost to the Titans, a member of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, in straight sets but had a close match with them, losing 25-22, 25-18, and 25-22.
Freshman outside hitter Jenny Howard (Duchesne HS) was named to the Illinois Wesleyan 2011 All-Tournament Team for her fine play in the four matches over the two-day affair.
Webster stays even on the season at 3-3. The Gorloks return home on September 13 to start St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, hosting Principia College (IL) at 7:00 PM. Webster hits the road on September 17, travelling to Louisville, KY, to face Eureka College (IL) and host Spalding University.
