Women's Soccer Starts SLIAC With Win

Webster 4 Spalding University 1

The Webster University women’s soccer team got off to a flying start with a 4-1 win over Spalding University, in Louisville, KY, on September 17.  Kristin Montgomery (FR, Duchesne) led a trio of freshmen scorers, netting a pair of goals. The undermanned Gorloks were playing seven players short due to a rash of injuries.

Webster took a 2-1 lead into halftime, and added a pair of second half goals to finish up 4-1. Montgomery scored her second and third goals on the year to take the team lead in that category. Lauren Scalise (FR, York HS, IL) scored her second goal, and Michelle Scally (FR, Rosati-Kain) scored her first goal for the Gorloks.

Brittany Senator (SR, Quincy HS, IL started in goal and improved to 3-1 on the season. Jessica Davis (FR, Belleville West HS, IL) played the second half in goal for Webster, allowing no goals.

The Gorloks are back in St. Louis on September 18, to face Coe College (IA), at Gay Field in Clayton. Webster will be the home team in a contest hosted by Fontbonne University.  Webster returns to the Soccer Park on September 20 to take on Millikin University (IL).
