The Webster University women's volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the young season as they defeated Carroll University, 3-1, in its home opener on September 2, at Grant Gymnasium.
Coach Merry Graf utilized her full roster, that includes six freshmen, as the Gorloks built up a 2-0 lead after two sets, winning 25-15 and 25-20. The Pioneers, a member of the Midwest Conference, came back to take the third set 25-20, but Webster staved off a late rally by Carroll in the fourth, 25-23, to clinch the match.
The Gorloks have a week off before travelling to Bloomington, IL, to play four matches in the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament on September 9-10.
