Volleyball Improves to 5-1 in SLIAC With Sweep

The women's volleyball team started with a stumble, but recovered quickly to sweep a pair of matches as Webster defeated Westminster College, 3-1, and MacMurray College (IL), 3-0, on September 24 at Grant Gymnnasium.  The wins moved the Gorloks to 5-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 8-4 overall.

The Gorloks lost the first game to the Blue Jays, 23-25, and were behind in the second before coming back to win 25-20.  Webster had an easier time the next two games, winning 25-16 and 25-18 to take the match.  Against MacMurray, the Gorloks had a much easier time, winning 25-9, 25-11, and 25-11.

Webster hosted a rare 'quad' match, as Spalding University (KY) played matches vs. MacMurray and Westminster as well.  Spalding won vs. MacMurray and were leading vs. Westminster. They are first in the SLIAC at 5-0 with Webster in second place at 5-1.

The next match for Webster will be on September 27 at Greenville College (IL).  The Gorloks have a tri-match vs. Fontbonne University and Principia College on October 1 in Clayton.
