Webster University's Morgan Milfeld, a senior from DeSoto High School (MO), has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 'Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week' for the week of September 1-5.
Milfeld, a wing midfielder, played 74 minutes in 101 degree heat and scored the game-winning goal for the Gorloks in a 4-1 victory against Nebraska Wesleyan University on September 3. Milfeld led all players with seven shots, four of them on goal. She tallied the game-winner at the 38:00 minute mark of the first half and picked up her second, Webster's fourth and final goal, with 29:00 remaining in the contest.
"Morgan is physically and mentally tough," said Webster head coach, Luigi Scire. "She did not allow the 101 degree temperature to affect her outstanding play."
Milfeld becomes the first Gorlok to earn a SLIAC Player of the Week honor in 2011-12. Congratulations to Morgan.
