Volleyball Gorloks Tame Tigers, 3-0

The Webster University women's volleyball team took a break from its SLIAC schedule and came away with a 3-0 win at Iowa Wesleyan College, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, on October 11.  The Gorloks will be regular visitors to Mt. Pleasant when Iowa Wesleyan becomes the 10th member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2013-14.

The Gorloks won the first set in easy fashion, 25-12, but had to work a lot harder as they nipped the Tigers in the second set, 25-23.  Webster polished off the victory with a 25-17 win in the third set.  A trio of sophomore standouts helped key the Webster triumph.

Sam Kersting (Lindbergh HS, MO) led the Gorloks with 10 kills, and the Indiana State transfer had two solo blocks and four block assists.  Jordan Vehlewald (Lafayette HS, MO) had nine kills in the win, and Emily Ratkewicz (Granite City HS, IL) had six kills, two solo blocks and a block assist.

Webster is home on October 13, resuming play in the SLIAC schedule as it takes on Principia College (IL) and Blackburn College (IL) at Grant Gymnasium..
