Box Score Buoyed by a natural 'hat trick' by Pat McCaffrey (SO, Bishop DuBourg HS, MO), the Webster University men's soccer team downed MacMurray College, 5-1, on October 17, at the Soccer Park.
McCaffrey scored the first three goals of the contest, his second, third, and fourth of the season, to stake Webster to a 3-0 lead. McCaffrey scored at the 12:16 mark off a pass from Shea Vogt (SR, Marquette HS, MO) and again at the 23:18 mark off a pass from Jeff Wallner (SO, Eureka HS, MO. He completed the hat trick on an unassisted goal at 33:31.
Carlos Espinosa (JR, Eureka HS, MO) scored an unassisted goal before the half, tying him with Mike Wells (SO, McCluer North HS, MO) for the team lead, with six goals on the year. After a couple of extended delays due to lightning in the vicinity, Webster was able to complete the game, getting a second half goal from Adam Ullo (SR, Oakville HS, MO), his first of the year. The Highlanders scored a late goal to break the shutout and make it a 5-1 final.
Brian Woodward (SO), another Eureka HS alum, picked up his sixth win in goal for the Gorloks.
Webster is 8-5-1 overall, and improves to 4-1 in the SLIAC. The Gorloks travel to Principia College (IL) on October 20 before returning home to the Soccer Park for a match with Fontbonne University on October 23.
