Gorloks First in SLIAC with Win at Principia

The Webster University women's soccer team picked up a big road win by defeating Principia College, 1-0, at Elsah, IL, on October 20.  The victory leaves the Gorloks undefeated and in first place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  A Kristin Montgomery (SO, Duchesne HS, MO) goal was all the Gorloks needed as Jessica Davis (SO, Belleville West HS, IL) made it stand up in goal.

Webster and Principia had entered the day tied for first but end the day with the Gorloks at 6-0 and the Blue and Gold at 5-1.  The Gorloks kept their shutout string alive in the SLIAC, not allowing a goal yet in conference play in 2012.

For Montgomery, it was her team-leading 11th goal of the season.  She scored 12 minutes into the contest off a pass by Lauren Pratt (FR, Incarnate Word Academy, MO).

Davis had her 11th shutout of the year for Webster, moving into sole possession of second place in the Gorlok single season record books, for shutouts in a season.  She is now one behind the all-time leader with 12, current Webster assistant coach Jessica Kozeny.  The Gorlok defense once again was staunch in victory and has not allowed a goal in SLIAC play and only nine goals in 17 games.

Webster is 13-4 overall and ranked 9th in the NCAA III Central Region.  The Gorloks are at home on October 23 to face Fontbonne University at the Soccer Park.  Webster winds up the regular season at Greenville College (IL) on October 27.
