The Webster University volleyball team stayed on track in their quest for another St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title, sweeping Eureka College (IL) and MacMurray College (IL), and improving to 8-1 in the SLIAC. The tri-match was hosted by Eureka on October 6,
The Gorloks started the day winning handily in straight sets over MacMurray, 25-9, 25-10, 25-5. Webster had defeated the Highlanders earlier this season, on September 25, at Grant Gymnasium. Jenny Howard (SO, Duchesne HS, MO) led Webster with nine kills and Kristen McDowell (SO, Staunton HS, IL) had seven. Emily Ratkewicz (SO, Granite City HS, IL) had five solo blocks and two block assists.
In the second match, Webster beat Eureka in straight sets as well, 25-18, 25-11, 25-20. This was the first meeting between the two teams this season. Webster has won six straight in SLIAC play, not losing a set during the streak.
The Gorloks are 10-8 overall and have a SLIAC showdown on the horizon as they host Greenville College (IL) on October 9. The Panthers currently hold down the top spot in the SLIAC standings.
