VB Sends Off SRs W/ 3-0 Win Over Cent. Methodist

The Webster University women's volleyball team won a non-conference match, defeating Central Methodist College, 3-0, at Grant Gymnasium, on October 25.  It was a fitting end for a Senior Night celebration, when the Gorloks honored four players that played their last regular season home match for Webster.

Webster is 17-9 overall on the season with the victory.  The Gorloks won the first set handily, 25-12, but  had to win a dogfight to take the second set, 26-24.  The Gorloks wrapped up the match with a 25-21 win in the third set.

Jenny Howard (SO, Duchesne HS, MO) had 13 kills, and Sam Kersting (SO, Lindbergh HS, MO) had six kills, one solo block, and four block assists.  Jessa Maier (SR, Triad HS, IL) had eight kills and Lindsey Taylor (JR, Rockwood Summit HS, MO) had four kills, one solo block, and four block assists for the Gorloks.  Sami Murray (SR, Columbia HS, IL) had 19 assists and three service aces.

Murray, Maier, Taylor, and Liz Abraham (JR, Hermann HS, MO) were recognized in ceremonies before the game.  Murray was a four-year player for the Gorloks, while Maier played her final three years after coming Webster as a freshman.

Abraham, unable to attend due to her class schedule, and Taylor both started Webster as freshmen and have played three seasons for the Gorloks.  Abraham will graduate early and Taylor will complete her studies in a specialized program at another college.

The Gorloks travel to Bloomington, IL, to play in the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament on October 26-17.  Webster will play Eureka College (IL) and Central College (IA) on the 26th, and face host Wesleyan and the University of Dallas (TX) on the 27th.  The Eureka match will count toward the SLIAC schedule.
