With its 13th straight win in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, a 3-0 victory at Principia College on October 30, the Webster University volleyball team finished in a first place tie in the SLIAC. The Gorloks finish in first place for a second season in a row, and the fifth time in the past six years.
The Gorloks wound up tied with Greenville College (IL) at 15-1 in the SLIAC. In winning its last 13 league contests, Webster did not lose a single set, winning 39 in a row during the streak. The Gorloks dispatched the Gold and Blue, 25-17, 25-13, and 25-21.
Sam Kersting (So, Lindbergh HS, MO) had 12 kills, with a .455 hitting percentage for the match, and four block assists. Jenny Howard (SO, Duchesne HS, MO) had 10 kills and had a .455 hitting percentage as well.
Webster will have the second seed in the SLIAC Tournament, based on conference tie-breakers, on November 3 at Greenville. Webster will face Westminster College at 4:00 p.m. in a first-round match. A win would propel them to the championship match immediately following, vs the Greenville/Principia winner. The winner of the tournament advances to the NCAA III National Championships.
