The Webster University volleyball team ground out a much needed, 3-0, win over Greenville College (IL) at Grant Gymnasium on October 9. With the victory, the Gorloks tied Greenville and Principia College (IL) with the fewest losses in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings, each with one.
The Gorloks took the match in straight sets, but all three were well-earned. Webster nipped the Panthers in the first set, 25-23, had a little more breathing room in a 25-18 second set, then had another 25-23 cliffhanger in the third.
Greenville had defeated Webster, 3-0, in a match at Elsah, IL, on September 15. Greenville falls to 10-1 with the loss and holds down first place with the additional win.
Webster is 9-1 in the SLIAC and 11-8 overall. The Gorlok win sets up another SLIAC showdown on October 13 at Grant, when Webster hosts Principia, also 9-1 in the SLIAC, and Blackburn College (IL) in a tri-match.
