Box Score The Webster University women's basketball team came up short at home, losing to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 58-51, on November 20, at Grant Gymnasium.  The contest was nip and tuck throughout, but the Engineers pulled ahead late in the game for the win.

The teams were tied at 12-12 early, but a 9-1 run put the Gorloks up, 21-13.  Gwen Williams (SR, Ft. Zumwalt West HS, MO) fueled the burst with three steals and two baskets.  But the Engineers went on a run of their own, 14-2, to grab a 27-23 lead.  A Williams lay-up and an Airyn Miller (SR, Belleville West HS, IL) three-pointer in the final 30 seconds of the half, left Webster down, 29-28.  Williams had 10 points and three steals for the half.

The second half began with the score see-sawing back and forth.  Webster had the lead, 40-39, at the 10:30 mark, and  Rose-Hulman slipped ahead, 41-40, at 8:57.  The Gorloks only saw the lead one more time, 47-46, with 4:46 remaining in the game as the Engineers slowly extended their lead.  Webster couldn't take advantage of 31 Rose-Hulman turnovers in the contest, as the Engineers had the rebounding edge, 37-29, and outshot the Gorloks at the free-throw line, 20-8.

Williams wound up with 14 points to lead Webster and finished with five steals.  Courtney Pursley (JR, St. Clair HS, MO) had 12 points and tied Jamie Buehrig (SO, Bishop DuBourg HS, MO) for the team lead with six rebounds.  Buehrig had three blocked shots on the night also.  Kaliann Rikard (JR, Cuba HS, MO) had five assists and six steals.

The Gorloks will be back in action, at home, on November 24, vs. Augustana College (IL).  Webster opens play in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on November 28, vs. Blackburn College (IL), at Grant.
