Boosted by a seven-goal second half burst, the Webster University women's soccer team downed Iowa Wesleyan College, 11-0, on September 16 at the Soccer Park. Lauren Pratt (FR, Incarnate Word Academy, MO) led the offensive onslaught with a hat trick.
Webster took a 3-0 halftime lead on goals by Kristin Montgomery (SO, Duchesne HS, MO), Pratt, and Kelsey Tsukayama (JR, Ft. Zumwalt South HS, MO), but the Gorloks had ample more opportunities they couldn't convert on. Webster had 19 shots in the first half, 15 of them on goal, and an eye-popping 16 offsides.
But the Gorloks began converting those opportunities in the second half, scoring seven goals in the first 20 minutes of the half to make it 10-0. Pratt had two more goals, giving her a team-leading five goals for the season. Montgomery finished with two, padding her season total to four.
Also scoring for the Gorloks, Jessica Mess (FR, Northwest HS, MO) picked up her second goal of the year and Ashley Mess (FR, Northwest HS, MO) scored her first goal as a Gorlok. Jordan Fosburgh (JR, Collinsville HS, IL) and Katie Aubuchon (JR, Affton HS, MO) scored their first goals of the season. Ally Nikolaus (JR, St. Joseph's Academy, MO) had her second goal, and also had two assists in the contest.
Jessica Davis (SO, Belleville West HS, IL) picked up her third shutout of the year, facing two shots and making three saves on the afternoon.
Webster improves to 4-2 on the season and travels to Decatur, IL, to face Millikin University on September 19. The Gorloks are back at home on September 22 to take on North Central College (IL) at the Soccer Park.
