Women's Soccer Loses OT Battle to Alma, 2-1

Box Score The Webster University women's soccer team came alive in the second half to force overtime, but wound up losing, 2-1, to Alma College (MI) on September 2 at the Soccer Park.  An Ally Nikolaus (JR, St. Joseph's Academy, MO) goal with 15 minutes left in regulation sparked the Gorloks but they couldn't pull out a win.

Up till Nikolaus' goal, the Gorloks were on the short end of a dominating effort by Alma.  Down 8-0 in shots and in corner kicks in the first half, Webster began to slowly mount an attack in the second.  After an Alma foul just a few yards outside the penalty box, Nikolaus stepped up and drilled in the tying goal.  Webster seem to take the lead offensively for the remaining 15 minutes, but couldn't score a second goal.

Three minutes left in OT, Alma punched a shot past Webster keeper Jessica Davis (SO, Belleville West HS, IL) for the win.  Davis had come up with several big saves throughout the contest to keep it close, and wound up with seven saves for the game.

The Gorloks are 1-1 on the season and have a week off now.  They resume action on September 8 at 11:00 a.m. vs. Elmhurst College (IL) and on September 9 at 2:00 p.m. vs. Monmouth College (IL).
