Gorloks Roll to Third Straight Shutout

Box Score Ally Nikolaus and Allison Ferguson scored two goals apiece for the Webster University women's soccer team as it defeated Blackburn College (Ill.), 9-0, Saturday (Oct. 12).
 
Nikolaus (St. Louis, MO / St. Joseph's Academy), a senior midfielder, and Ferguson (Highland, IL / Highland), a freshman defender, paced a Webster attack that fired 44 shots, 25 of which were on goal.
 
Webster's nine-goal output was its highest since Oct. 17, 2012, when the Gorloks scored 10 times against MacMurray (Ill.).
 
Webster limited Blackburn to two shots, and junior goalkeeper Jessica Davis (Belleville, IL / Belleville West) made one save to collect her sixth clean sheet of the season. The Gorloks have shut out eight of their 13 opponents this season.
 
Senior forward Jordan Fosburgh (Collinsville, IL / Collinsville), junior defender Whitney Scott (Independence, KY / Holy Cross) and sophomore forward Lauren Pratt (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) each recorded three points with a goal and an assist.
 
Freshman midfielders Lauren Nuelle (St. Louis, MO / St. Joseph's Academy) and Shelby Simmons (St. Louis, MO / Parkway North) both tallied a goal. Junior forward Kristin Montgomery (St. Louis, MO / Duchesne) notched two assists, and junior defender Amy Schield (Belleville, IL / Belleville West) was credited with an assist.
 
Webster (11-2 overall) is tied for first place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 3-0 mark. The Gorloks are the defending SLIAC champions.
 
Next up for Webster is a home game against Principia Tuesday (Oct. 15) at 7 p.m. at St. Louis Soccer Park. The Gorloks play Fontbonne Saturday (Oct. 19) at 3 p.m. at Centene Stadium in Clayton.
