Webster clinched a spot in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament with the victory. The top four teams in regular-season standings advance to the tournament.

Junior Russ Giglio (Chesterfield, MO / U. of Tampa), freshmen Marcellus Ottensmeier (Trenton, IL / Wesclin), and Jarek Moreschini (Pueblo, CO / Pueblo) all scored for the first time in their college careers.

Freshman Brendan Shields (St. Peters, MO / Fort Zumwalt East) earned three points with a goal and an assist. Junior Justin Peters (Wentzville, MO / Holt) scored his first goal this season, and freshman BJ Dryer (St. Louis, MO / Pattonville) tallied his fourth goal of the year.

Junior Mike Wells (St. Louis, MO / McCluer North) recorded his team-high fifth assist for his team-leading 15th point of the season. Wells is tied for fourth among SLIAC players with his five assists.

Freshman Blake O'Hearn (Arnold, MO / Fox) was credited with an assist for his first collegiate point, and junior Josh Papes (St. Louis, MO / McCluer North) had a helper as well.

Junior goalkeeper Brian Woodward (Eureka, MO / Eureka) made two saves to help Webster to its seventh shutout of the season. The Gorloks outshot the home team 21-4, including a 13-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Webster improved to 11-3-3 overall and 6-1 in SLIAC play. The Gorloks have won seven of their last eight games.

Webster has two home contests remaining before the SLIAC tournament. The Gorloks play Westminster Tuesday (Oct. 29) at 5 p.m. before taking on Iowa Wesleyan Saturday (Nov. 2) at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at St. Louis Soccer Park.
