Gorloks Shut Down Panthers

Box Score In a rematch of last year's conference tournament championship game, Webster University women's soccer team again blanked Greenville College (Ill.), this time 3-0 Saturday (Oct. 5) at St. Louis Soccer Park.

On Nov. 2, 2012, the Gorloks defeated Greenville, 1-0, at Soccer Park behind a tally by Ally Nikolaus and a shutout by goalkeeper Jessica Davis.

The storyline was similar in the teams' first matchup since their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title tilt. Nikolaus (St. Louis, MO / St. Joseph's Academy), a senior midfielder, scored Webster's first goal, which turned out to be the game-winner. Davis (Belleville, IL / Belleville West), a junior, collected her second consecutive shutout and fifth of the season.

Junior forward Kristin Montgomery (St. Louis, MO / Duchesne) and junior defender Amy Schield (Belleville, IL / Belleville West) added goals of their own. Webster improved its all-time record against Greenville to 22-2.

Lindsey Adshade (Chicago, IL / DeKalb), Jessica Mess (St. Louis, MO / Northwest), Lauren Pratt (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) and Whitney Scott (Independence, KY / Holy Cross) earned an assist apiece.

Senior captain Katie Aubuchon (St. Louis, MO / Affton) appeared in her first game since Oct. 7, 2012, when she injured her right knee against Carroll (Wis.). Aubuchon played 18 minutes tonight after entering the contest in the second half.

Webster (10-2 overall, 2-0 SLIAC) has shut out seven of its 12 opponents this season. The Gorloks are tied for first atop the SLIAC standings. They were picked to win the conference according to the SLIAC coaches' preseason poll.

Webster continues conference play with a game at Blackburn Saturday (Oct. 12). The Gorloks host Principia Tuesday (Oct. 15) at 7 p.m. at Soccer Park.
