Webster Completes Indiana Sweep

Box Score Capping a perfect opening weekend, Webster University women's soccer team completed an Indiana sweep with its second shutout win, 6-0 against Franklin (Ind.).
 
This is the first time since 2008 that the Gorloks have opened the season with back-to-back shutouts. In 2008, the team opened with five shutouts in a row. That team ended up with 14 shutouts, a school record that was tied by last season's squad.
 
Senior forward Jordan Fosburgh (Collinsville, IL / Collinsville) and freshman midfielder Lauren Nuelle (St. Louis, MO / St. Joseph's Academy) each was credited with a goal and an assist.
 
Other goal scorers were freshman Brianna Luaders (St. Louis, MO / St. Pius X), junior Kristin Montgomery (St. Louis, MO / Duchesne), sophomore Lauren Pratt (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word), and junior Michelle Scally (St. Louis, MO / Rosati-Kain).
 
Junior goalie Jessica Davis (Belleville, IL / Belleville West) shared the shutout with freshman Maura Alroth (Chicago, IL / Lincoln Way North). Each was credited with one save.
 
Webster scored twice in the first half. The Gorloks outshot their opponent, 39-6.
 
Webster's next game is Wednesday (Sept. 4) at Illinois College at 3 pm.
