Nikolaus' Five Points Propel Victory

Box Score Senior midfielder Ally Nikolaus (St. Louis, MO / St. Joseph's Academy) scored two goals and assisted on another as the Webster University women's soccer team blanked Buena Vista University (Iowa), 5-0.
 
Nikolaus has compiled three goals and two assists this season for a total of eight points. She led the Gorloks in points last year with 32 (11 goals, 10 assists).
 
Webster's defense held the visitors to three shots at goal and one shot on goal. The shutout was Webster's fifth of the season.
 
Junior forward Kristin Montgomery (St. Louis, MO / Duchesne) gave the Gorloks an early lead with her second goal of the season.
 
Less than three minutes later, sophomore forward Ashley Mess (St. Louis, MO / Northwest) scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season to put the Gorloks up 2-0.
 
Nikolaus scored twice in the second half, and freshman midfielder Brianna Luaders (St. Louis, MO / St. Pius X) completed the scoring in the 76th minute with her second goal of the season.
 
Freshman midfielder Lauren Nuelle (St. Louis, MO / St. Joseph's Academy), Lauren Pratt (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word), Amy Schield (Belleville, IL / Belleville West), Lauren Scalise (Elmhurst, IL / York) and Nikolaus all earned assists.
 
With the win, the Gorloks improved to 7-1 this season. Webster received votes in the two most recent D3soccer.com top-25 national polls for NCAA Division III.
 
Next up for Webster is a home game on Sunday (Sept. 22) at the Soccer Park against Coe (Iowa) at 1 p.m.
