Volleyball Continues Conference Success

Box Score Webster University's volleyball squad continued its success in conference play with a 3-0 win at MacMurray College (Ill.) Sept. 24, winning 25-11, 25-21, and 25-14.

The Gorloks improved to 11-3 overall, 7-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. They were the SLIAC coaches' pre-season favorite to win the conference.

All-America hitter Sam Kersting (St. Louis, MO / Lindbergh) paced the team with 12 kills and a .440 attack percentage.

Setter Allie O'Toole (St. Louis, MO / Lutheran South) was credited with 17 assists, while the team's other setter Ashley Fawcett (Surprise, AZ / Valley Vista) had 16 assists. O'Toole added seven kills with no errors in 12 attack attempts for a .583 hitting percentage.

In the back row, Megan Morrison (St. Louis, MO / Lutheran South) compiled 16 digs, the ninth time in 14 matches this season that she has 15 or more digs.

Morrison was one of three Gorloks with double-figure dig totals. That was the sixth time this season that three Webster players have 10+ digs, the last being Sept. 14 against Principia when four turned the feat.

This is the eighth of nine consecutive conference matches with the last against Spalding (Ky.) at home on Oct. 3. Webster's annual alumni game is this Friday (Sept. 27) at 8 pm at Grant Gymnasium.
