Third Consecutive Shutout for Gorloks

Box Score Webster University's men's soccer team earned its third straight shutout in a 5-0 home win against Eureka College (Ill.) Saturday (Sept. 28) in Webster's conference opener.
 
The Gorloks (6-2-3 overall, 1-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) have won three straight SLIAC openers.
 
Junior midfielder Kris Brown (Wentzville, MO / St. Charles CC) notched his first two goals as a Gorlok in a nine-minute span in the first half. Senior forward Marc Hager (St. Louis, MO / St. John Vianney) scored his first goal of the season and third of his career to extend Webster's lead to 3-0.
 
Freshman midfielder Dino Music (St. Louis, MO / Mehlville) recorded his first collegiate goal early in the second half. Freshman forward Kalidou Sarr (Richmond Heights, MO / Pattonville) nabbed his first collegiate goal midway through the second half.
 
Juniors Mike Wells (St. Louis, MO / McCluer North), Taylor Overstreet (St. Louis, MO / McCluer North) and Carlton Poindexter (St. Louis, MO / McCluer North) each tallied an assist, as did freshmen Frank Verdu (Edwardsville, IL / Edwardsville), Jamie Lawrence (Florissant, MO / Hazelwood West) and Music.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Zach Horn (Godfrey, IL / Alton Marquette) made his first collegiate start and earned his first career win and shutout.
 
Webster continues SLIAC play with a contest against Greenville next Saturday (Oct. 5) at Soccer Park. That game kicks off at 5 p.m.
 
The Gorloks were picked to win the conference in the SLIAC coaches' preseason poll. Webster won last year's SLIAC tournament championship.
